The Inn on Main was originally built around 1800 by E.W. Crocker during the height of whaling and trading on Cape Cod. It was constructed in Georgian style, classic Cape with hints of Federal influence found in the windows around the entrance door. The home has been added to the historical registry since 1979. The inn is located on historic Old King’s Highway, which began as a cart path that locals used for trading.
Home to many families over the centuries, the Inn on Main became a bed and breakfast in the 1970s when a retired priest purchased it and began converting the property. Since then, it has been in operation as a bed and breakfast. Your innkeepers, Sarah and Chris, are the fifth so far to steward the spectacular “Grand Old Dame”.
The Inn is centrally located, which is another reason you’ll want to choose this cape cod Massachusetts bed and breakfast. Nearby are restaurants and attractions perfect for a day of adventure and sightseeing.
The innkeepers for the Inn on Main are Chris Kennedy and Sarah Bradburn. In 2018 these business and life partners wanted to make a change and switch paths to work for themselves. Sarah thought of owning and operating an inn and they found an opportunity in the Inn on Main. Their cape cod Massachusetts bed and breakfast became the perfect place to put their unique skills to good use. They worked to create an experience travel experience and a relaxing environment with an amazing breakfast and of course a wonderful place to sleep.
Chris is originally from Long Island, New York and went to the Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts studying jazz composition and arrangement. After feeling the call to serve, he joined the Marines serving four years of active duty and two additional years in the reserves. Returning to Massachusetts, he worked in the Worcester area for the next decade. He then followed work around the the country in managerial roles in cable TV and broadband. While finding himself in Colorado, he met Sarah, together they call the Inn and Cape Cod home.
Chris is the Inn’s chef and enjoys sharing his special recipes with guests and family. When not in the kitchen, he may be found fixing things here and there, playing the piano or saxophone in the Inn library.
Chris has two sons that live in Texas and has seven grandchildren with Sarah. His hobbies include biking, sailing, hiking, traveling, the ocean, and enjoys a nice scotch or bourbon.
Sarah is from Wisconsin, and made her way to California to start a family and career. Her work in the grocery business came to an end when she went back to school and gained a teaching degree. The next decade was spent teaching middle schoolers science until facing a layoff during the California budget crisis. After that, she spent her time in real estate and spent three years after the ’09 crash working in the field and substitute teaching. Then, she made the move to Colorado with her parents and brother, and was able to come back to teaching full time. After 23 years in teaching, she retired. In Colorado, Sarah met Chris and have spent ten loving years together.
Sarah can be found tidying, doing laundry, or weeding the yard. She enjoys shopping and antiquing for special pieces for nooks around the inn. Sarah has two children who live in California. She shares seven grandchildren with Chris. Her favorite place is the beach and she enjoys biking, hiking, traveling and her excellent tequila.
